Dixie Kite Festival

Every year, one of the local power companies put on a kite festival. School aged kids are encouraged to read a specified amount each week in the months leading up to it and if they take their completed chart, they earn a free book or kite.  We have only gone a couple of times in the past due to weather or work, so we decided to make it a priority this year and head out for it...plus Taylor was really excited about her free kite.
We let the kids pick a few things they wanted to do while they were there and Boston chose a couple bouncy houses and the train ride...he tried sneaking up for an extra turn down the slide but got caught.
Maddox and Curtis waiting patiently in line...there were several times Maddox tried to sneak away and jump on one of the inflatable toys without a ticket.
Then, we he did have a ticket to get in, he only lasted a minute before a couple of bigger kids got in and started jumping.  He decided he'd had enough and made a quick exit.
Taylor knew right away that she wanted to try the rock wall out.  She was determined to make it to the top and hit the buzzer.
 And she did!
Taking a spin on the crazy train:)
Dad racing around trying to catch the train at every spot he could! Maddox seemed well entertained.
 Love this guy.
 And this brown eyed boy.
We didn't last too long because it was really hot, but the kids had a blast and we headed back to town for snow cones that weren't over priced at the festival!
