A couple weeks ago, I decided it was haircut time around here. Boston has hair that sticks straight up no matter what I do to it and with summer fast approaching, I went with the buzz cut. No offense to others that sport this do, but I swore I'd never be a mom with a buzz cut kid...never say never! Curtis wasn't a fan at first and I'll admit he did look like an ex-con that may have been part of a drug ring, but its grown in a little and suites him quite nicely! Potty training has been quite lax these days. Last week he got a stomach bug that left him with some nasty diarrhea and I cringed each time I had to throw those $1 a piece pull ups out after just a few seconds of wear. I resorted back to diapers for awhile till it was cleared up and most days he doesn't mind having a wet pull-up on. Today, however; we were outside playing and he was in regular underwear, aka panties...hey, it happens when you have a girl first and he insists of being like her! He gets pretty good at holding it and stopping himself if he starts to go, which leaves the pants a little damp. I noticed today as he was playing at the park, that he'd pulled down his pants and proceeded to pee in the grass. He thought nothing of it and when about his playing!! I told Curtis teaching him to do that might not make the neighbors happy, but he was quite pleased with himself! Anyhow, we're aiming to have it down before he starts kindergarten!
On to Little Miss: Don't let that sweet face fool you, she's a spitfire! This one definitely keeps us on our toes and is often times still convinced that if she whines or throws a tantrum, her parents may give in and she'll get her way. She's not winning that battle, but if she wants to learn it the hard way, who am I to tell her differently! Curtis says she's stubborn like me...I have no idea what he's talking about! When she's not pushing her limits, she's most likely outside playing with friends. The girl loves riding her bike and loves even more to ride around in the vacant dirt lots! Curtis is quite proud that his daughter has no fear on the bike and is convinced she'll be a great mountain biking partner! She's also our little artist, always drawing or doodling on paper! She's smart...most of the time too smart for her own good and she picks up on things even when we think she's not listening. The other day I was asking her what she wanted to be when she grew up and she replied..."I want to do dad's job and work all day!" after which she said, "I want to invent time machines!" She's a funny one. The other day while I was in a store shopping, Curtis was letting them throw pennies in the water found in the common area. With her first penny, she thought a moment, then threw her penny has high as she could and said..."I wish to go to Outer Space!" Curtis about died laughing as she then went on to tell Boston to wish for Dinosaurs! She's still loving preschool and wishes more than anything that she could start Kindergarten in the fall.
Curtis has been busy with work...well, that's an understatement. Swamped is more like it. The hotel has been packed and he recently let go his Sales Manager which means he's been working 2 full time jobs on top of several part time ones as well! He's short on housekeepers, sales, front desk and basically needs a few more of him to make things work! I've never seen him so stressed as he's been the last couple weeks, but hopefully things will slow down a bit and give him a chance to get on top of things that are on the back burner! He's been refinishing a kitchen table for us and spends his time sanding and staining, on top of the tall order I usually have for him! I've been helping him out as much as possible setting up meeting rooms, cleaning up after events and helping anywhere I can at the hotel! I'm grateful for good neighbors that allow me to drop my kids off and help relieve some of the stress my husband has. I'm also still working a couple nights at Gymboree which is a nice outlet for me. Pregnancy is at a good stage right now. My kids still nap which means I get a couple hours quiet time to myself that usually involves a nap as well. The little guy is moving more and more each day and I finally got to that stage where I feel awkward talking to someone as my stomach starts shifting around! And to think, I still have 14 weeks to go! We are closing in on a name...okay, I've had a name picked out for weeks and spent the time convincing Curtis how great it really is. I even asked for a Mother's Day gift which involves each child's name on a charm...he hasn't ordered it yet:( I think he'll come around eventually. We are loving the nice weather and being outside longer in the day. Most days are packed with the same ol' things, but we are happy and healthy and to us, that's all that counts!
