Easter Weekend

We had a great holiday weekend here at home and enjoyed the time spent with family and each other! We had a quick visit from Curtis' sister and her kids on their way to Arizona for Spring Break and the kids had fun playin outside till way past dark! We also got to see Curtis' brother and his family who were down for the holiday and Taylor couldn't get enough of her cousins and Boston loved all the older boy cousins he got to follow around and wrestle with! We started off the Easter festivities with a neighborhood Easter egg hunt! We were missing about 5 or so kids but those who attended still had a blast! After we said go, all the kids took off running except for Boston and Jase...who can't walk yet, so that was his excuse. Poor Boston had to be coached a little by his Dad, but soon got the hang of it and loved it even more when he found the mini snickers inside some of the eggs!We sure love our little neighborhood and look forward to it hopefully growing someday! The more, the merrier:) Saturday night I had to work and our "go-to" babysitters also were tied up, so some of our amazing other neighbors offered to watch the kids so Curtis could attend Priesthood session. I'm grateful for a husband that truly enjoys this meeting and for friends who made it possible for him to go. He's been so stressed at work being extremely short staffed, that I knew he'd come home uplifted! I always enjoy hearing about the talks after and reading through his notes as he recounts his favorite talks!
Sunday morning came way too early thanks to Taylor who was in complete disbelief that the Easter Bunny had come and left her a few things!! Curtis made the comment that it felt like Christmas morning all over again, with 2 tired parents on the couch and kids overjoyed with their small, but apparently exciting loot!! Taylor got a new helmet and bell for her bike now that she's lost the training wheels and Boston got a fun T-Ball set....which the bat, of course, turned into a sword in no time:) Boys! They each got some bubble wands and a new kite for our overly windy weather we've been having! We enjoyed listening to the morning session of Conference and both felt uplifted and inspired by the talks given. The first few talks were so powerful to me that I must have really needed the enlightenment...either that, or my kids were just exceptionally quiet during these that I actually got to give my full attention!!
We finished off with dying a few eggs. This was a tradition I always looked forward to growing up because we would do it the night before Easter and my parents would hide each of ours for us to find the following morning. They got pretty creative and stumped us good quite a few times...who would have thought to look inside the light fixtures?! Taylor loved it, Boston loved making a mess and squeezing the eggs till they broke...again, such a boy! It was such a great, relaxing weekend; one that we really needed! And hopefully, I don't see anymore chocolate any time soon!
