Her Special Day and a Quick Trip

Last Tuesday was Taylor's special day at preschool. The teacher sent home a paper at the beginning of the month telling when each child would have their day. I filled out information such as her birthday, number of siblings, favorite foods and favorite things to do. We were supposed to return it on the designated day with a favorite treat all while keeping it a secret. The teacher would tell the class all the facts on the paper and have the kids try and guess who it was. Taylor was so excited that it had been her day and she came home and said, "mom you tricked me!" I guess I did a pretty good job at hiding it:) She got to be princess for the day and was a given a crown and mirror and she got to share her favorite treat, brownies, with her class! When we had previously asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she first said, "I want Dad's job!" Then she thought some more and said, "or make time machines". She also told us she wanted to go to space and be an astronaut! This girl has quite the imagination!

After preschool, we packed up the car and headed to Vegas with Curtis. He had a couple meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday so we thought we'd go and hang out by the pool while he was in meetings! He got tied up at work so we didn't leave until almost 3 and he missed his meeting entirely that day....we didn't mind! We went to dinner, stopped and played at a park and bought the baby a new carseat! The kids were up at 5:45 am the next morning ready for swimming. Taylor was especially disappointed when I told her it was far too windy for swimming and we'd have to make other plans! The wind was ridiculous, about 50mph all day!! It put a kink in our plans but we managed to fill our time. We headed to the mall, a real mall, looked around and played in the kid's place. Then we headed to McDonald's for lunch and the rare chance to play in the play place...I know, gross, but I was that desperate! We then headed back to the hotel for much needed naps! Due to their early rising, they slept for about 3 hours! That's one way to pass the time:) We then ventured out into the wind to a nearby park and played unil Curtis wrapped up his meetings. The wind was not so enjoyable, but the kids didn't seem to mind too much. We packed up and then grabbed a bite to eat before heading home. We could have stayed another night, but Curtis knew he needed to be back to the hotel since he was low on staff and the fact they were busy due to the upcoming Ironman race. We chose to eat at Pei Wei, PF Changs fast food version, and passed the time waiting for our food being silly! I think Curtis and I found this far more amusing than the kids, which made it all the more fun. I love Boston's face in the picture with Curtis...so proud of his trick! It was a quick trip that didn't quite go according to plan, but we had a good time and love when we get a chance to getaway and spend time with Curtis!
