Dixie Kite Festival

Saturday we decided to venture out and enjoy the beautiful weather by heading to the Dixie Kite Festival at a Sun River. We were excited for the wonderful weather since it had been rainy, windy and cool all week and the kids didn't get a chance to be out as much as they wanted. The weather was almost perfect except that it wasn't quite windy enough to fly kites, which may have been a slight problem since it was a kite festival! They had free kids games, bounce houses, blow-up slides, face painting, and a fun train ride for the kids. We headed over with our friends, the Felix's, and soaked up as much sun as possible. The kids had a blast playing on all the fun toys and Boston was especially excited about the bounce house. He didn't do much bouncing, but rather falling. He thought it was hilarious and was mad when his 3 minutes were up. We took him down the slides, which he loved, and then distracted him with some balloons. He was basically content the rest of the time as long as he had a balloon. He is my observant child, and loved just watching all the people that were there:)Taylor had a great time on the slides as well and was so quick going up and down that she snuck a few more turns in than she was supposed too! She really wanted her face painted and sat so still for the lady doing it. She was upset when we had to wash it off for church today. We got her to go on the train by telling her she could ride with her friend, Kylie. They had a similar train at the pumpkin patch last year that went really fast and made here a little hesitant. Poor Kylie was stuck sitting in the back with Taylor practically on her lap!

After we'd exhausted all our options at the festival, we headed to lunch at Pirate Island Pizza. The kids were occupied by all the arcade games and the play area and managed to sit long enough to have a bite to eat. Taylor was excited about all her tickets and thought it was so cool that she got to redeem them for 3 tootsie rolls...we decided to let her think she got a killer deal even though 40 tickets got her next to nothing! After a good nap and a quick grocery shopping trip, we headed back out for the fireworks. Taylor was so excited and had been asking about them all day! Boston was completely in awe of them and of course never quite looked at the camera, but his face said it all. They were pretty short, but we had a great time and it was a nice way to wrap up the day. It was a great day full of sunshine, good food, good friends, and fun:)
