I knew that I wanted to do one last family vacation as a family of 5 before the baby came and I also knew that I didn't want to spend hours on end in the car getting somewhere. In the end, we decided we would head to Salt Lake and hit up all the places we hadn't ever been since we are usually too busy with family stuff.
Ready to hit the road!
After stopping for dinner at Curtis' dad's house and saying hi to some of his family, we made our way to our hotel in Salt Lake. Madd was insistent on rolling his own suitcase anywhere we went!
Our first full day there, we decided to hit up the Living Planet Aquarium. The kids had a blast running from tank to tank to see what underwater creatures they held. I think some of their favorites had to be the sharks, octopus and penguins!
Unfortunately that night after an evening swim and a late dinner, Taylor woke up sick and started throwing up...and not even an hour later Boston joined in! I could not believe the luck! We wheeled the roll away bed into the bathroom where they both slept off and on all night. Luckily, Maddox stayed asleep but the next morning the throw ups continued and we hung out in the room for the most part. After we had been clear of the pukes for a couple hours, we decided to get out and go for a drive. Tummies were still upset but you can only sit in a hotel room so long before you wanna go crazy! We found ourselves a tractor and Maddox preferred to be on the outside watching rather than inside.
We also decided to go to Scheels and walk around. The kids ended up having a blast, going up and down the escalator, playing a few games and checking out their fun aquarium.
We even managed a few smiles throughout the day although the upset tummies continued on and off most of the day and into the next.
Maddox, thankfully, was spared his siblings tummy bug and seemed to enjoy himself where ever we went.
After a good night's sleep, we decided to spend the day at Hogel Zoo. The kids were beyond excited and the weather was perfect that day.
The giraffes are some of my favorite animals to see and there were plenty there and they did not disappoint!
I made an attempt to get in a picture here and there in all my pregnant glory just to show I was really on the vacation too!
The kids were so antsy to get on the marry go round and were feeling rather impatient toward me when I asked them to smile for a picture!
Finally, on one of our last days there, everyone felt well enough that we could hit up the most anticipated stop of our trip....LAGOON! The kids had never been to an amusement park and were so excited about all the rides. We started off with some of the smaller ones and even Maddox had a blast and was fearless!
I wasn't sure he would want to ride by himself but he quickly caught on and ran from ride to ride showing off his stamp.
He didn't even mind having a stranger accompany him on one of his driving adventures.
The kids could not have been more excited which in turn made me so happy.
Taylor was fearless and went on all the big roller coasters with Curtis that she was tall enough for. She loved it and Curtis loved having a buddy to go with him. Boston was not a fan of the bigger rides but did try out at least 2 roller coasters both of which he wasn't a fan of...but we gave him props for trying.
Maddox managed a nice nap in the stroller which allowed the big kids to do some of their own fun rides.
I squeezed myself in to a ride with Maddox and laughed the entire time as he had control of whether we went up or down!
Teacups with the boys while dad and Taylor hit up some roller coasters. I love the look on Madd's face.
A fun train ride complete with a tiger that wasn't overly happy to see us. I love this family of mine so much and was so happy for the wonderful time we had to spend together away from reality! Even with some sickness, we managed to really enjoy ourselves and each other's company, but I was more than ready to get back home after a long week of fun!
