This year for Spring Break we decided to get away as a family and what better place to do it than Arizona! Ever since our good friends, the Felix's, had moved back in January, my kids and I had been dying to go visit. Curtis had been so swamped with work and banquets that I literally forced him to take some time off to get away with just us and no work involved!
We spent lots of time swimming, playing, and just hanging out like old times! The kids picked up right where they left off and had a blast the entire week.
Taylor insisted on buying BFF necklaces for her and Kylie before we went! I absolutely love this picture of them. It is apparent in Taylor's face just how happy she was to see her best friend.
Maddox had a good time "helping" with Addley too. He was so sweet to want to hold her and pick her up even though she was more than half his size! She was a good sport and didn't seem to mind too much!
Going in for the kiss! She loved every minute of it too:)
Curtis really wanted to see a spring training game while we were there so we packed up the kids to go watch the Cubs...only problem was by the time we got there all the lawn seats were sold out! It was for the best though because the kids were already complaining of how hot it was outside! Curtis managed to get away with his niece and her husband later in the week to see a different game. I was happy he was able to go enjoy himself without worry of kids...and a pregnant wife!
Instead, we found a cold stone and watched the fountains in the shade. We were all much happier to be doing that instead of baking in the hot Arizona sun!
Maddox loved trying to be a big kid with these boys and I just loved seeing the joy on my kids faces doing such simple things with such amazing friends!
While Curtis was baking in the sun at the baseball game, the kids played in the pool and Andrea and I got to sit and visit. Maddox was not a fan of swimming and wanted nothing to do with it so he hung out on the sidelines content on just watching.
They also took us to get some amazing food while we were there! Joe's Farm Grill, which has been on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, was such a fun atmosphere and had some amazing food! We also went to Oregano's which had some of the best pizza and Caesar Salad that I have ever tasted! This was an especially fun night because Andrea's sister offered to watch all 6 kiddos so we could go out adults only! Curtis reminded me on our way home that it was actually the first time we have ever gone to dinner just as couples! Everything we did together always included kids and all!
It was a sad day when the time finally came to leave! The week went by way too fast and we loved every minute of it! Seeing there new home and where they will be living was great, but we sure miss having them across the street. Taylor was so upset she could barely say goodbye and ran to the car and cried it all out! We have forever friends in these guys and know that we will always make an effort to visit when possible!
I am not a fan of this picture of me but for memories sake I had to put it on! I could not have imagined how much this girl moving would effect me. For 4 years, she has been there for me in every possible way. We had our ups and downs but always managed to find our way back to that comfortable place we both needed! I value her friendship so much and going to visit only reaffirmed what an amazing friend she truly is. I'm so happy for their family and their new journey, but miss them terribly. It was so great to see Jeremy happy in his job and life and just like the guy we remembered when we first met him. Living so far away is hard but putting in the work to keep in touch is worth it when you find friends like this! Every one of my kids get along with their kids and our husbands get along which only makes it even better! We were lucky to spend our break with them and are happy about the memories that we added.
