Mid-February marked 16 weeks pregnant for me! It felt so good to get over that first trimester of misery! Its amazing how easily you forget about all the nausea, vomiting and just plain yuckiness that first trimester brings. There wasn't much hope of hiding it too long anyway since with #4 I seemed to have popped far sooner than I expected.
These two are slowly starting to play together more and form a good brotherly bond. Maddox is finally at the stage where he fights back for things his brother tries to takes which makes for some interesting wrestling matches!
My little sidekick! He's always wanting the phone and trying to take pictures.
He has a special place in my heart for sure. We stopped having our speech therapist come out because I felt like we weren't getting anywhere and it was putting some unnecessary stress on me. Our wonderful learning consultant still comes once a month and she says he will get it on his own time. I've learned I can't force this kid to do anything he isn't ready for, but he's always smiling and happy about life!
Cheese!
For Valentine's day, Curtis brought home the kids bubbles and fun puzzles to put together! They loved every minute of it and I love that he takes the initiative on that particular holiday.
These two had a blast one night playing with the potato heads and thought it was pretty funny trying some of the parts on each other!
Maddox is going to KinderMusik once a week and looks forward to it each time. Its a special time that I get to spend one on one time with him doing something he enjoys and something I know is helping him learn and grow.
Curtis had a conference over President's Day and since it was in San Diego we decided to tag along with him. We also didn't like the thought of him having to be alone on his birthday! The hotel we stayed at was right along the harbor so the first night we ventured out for a walk.
The next day while Curtis was in classes, I took the kids to see the ocean and beach for their very first time. I have to admit I was equally as excited too. I love the ocean and the calming peacefulness it brings! I could sit and watch it for hours.
Taylor and Boston got brave and ran through the ways and Boston even managed to get tackled by a few! The water was freezing, but they didn't seem to mind one bit. Maddox, on the other hand, was hesitant and preferred to stay a safe distance from the water at all times!
After Curtis was finished, we took the kids back to play in the sand and water and this time came prepared with suits, towels and blankets!
I love this man! It was great to get away as a family and we enjoyed watching our kids play at a park just off the beach for quite some time.
That night we met up with some friends for dinner and the wait was apparently too long for Boston. He fell asleep on my lap and skipped dinner.
The kids loved watching ships and yachts coming through the Harbor from our hotel room window! Such simple pleasures for these kids.
I made the mistake of forgetting to bring extra garments on the trip which meant we got to take a trip to the temple. It really is breathtaking and the grounds were beautiful.
The kids and I also drove over to Coronado Island and spent some time playing in the sand and watching helicopters fly over us. This picture shows how Madd felt about the ocean in general. He would go nowhere near the waves and water and was content to watch from afar.
On our last day, we took the kids to the Mormon Battalion and did the tour. It was so fun and the kids could not get enough of the talking picture frames! We also spent a lot of time afterward panning for gold and making bricks.
We drove up the coast on our way out of town and had to stop one last time to say goodbye to the ocean and sand.
The kids loved playing chicken with the waves and also gathered quite the stash of seashells to take home to show all their friends!
It really was a wonderful get away for our family. I'm really trying to do more small trips like these to create memories with our kids. We didn't do much that was glamorous or thrilling, but everyone had a blast and we enjoyed getting away from reality for a few days.
