First Day of 1st Grade

Today was Taylor's first day of 1st grade! Holy smokes, that summer went by fast.  She has been so excited to go back to school and I'm grateful that she truly loves it so much!  She ended up getting the teacher she wanted which helped make up for the fact her closest friend ended up in a different class. She asked Curtis for a Father's Blessing last night and wanted just him in there with her...I snuck by the door toward the end and was overwhelmed by emotions! She's growing up and becoming her own individual and I felt grateful for a husband who could provide the comfort a blessing can bring for a new school year!
She opted for a messenger style bag this year instead of a regular backpack...which I think only makes her look even older!
When I asked if she wanted me to take her on the first day and walk her to class or have our friend we carpool with take her,  she didn't even hesitate when she said, "I'll go with Alisha, Mom". She told me she was a little nervous and I told her this morning that I could take her if she wanted but she was not having that! She wouldn't even wait for them to pick her up and chose to walk to their house.  I stood in the door watching her when she turned and said "Mom, stop watching me!" I'm grateful for her independence today because there are times when she is so timid about talking to other people or doing certain tasks that she becomes emotional, but today that was not the case. I received a text with this picture of her at her desk...warmed my heart seeing her truly happy face! She gets that all for her dad. I was always terrified and overwhelmingly nervous on my first days of school.
Good Luck, sister. I can't wait to watch you grow and learn this school year...well, maybe I can...but I have no choice, you are already well on your way:)
