Picnic with Dad

It's no secret around here that Curtis has been crazy busy with work for the past few weeks.  There are some days when the kids don't even see him because they have long gone to bed before he gets home from work...and we know that there will be several more days like this to come. So, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday and go steal him away from work.  The kids helped me pack a lunch and Boston insisted we needed a blanket so we could have a picnic with him.
There's a really nice pavilion and grassy area at a trailhead just down from the hotel that we like to go. It's fun to watch all the people out enjoying the trails and the kids love playing on the bridge. We were trying to get a picture of all of us and were struggling a tad making sure we were all in.  A nice man passing with his family took pity on us and offered to take a picture for us.
I should have strangers take pictures more often because I actually get a normal smile out of everyone...minus Maddox who was too interested in something else going on!  We have really learned to savor every minute we have when Curtis is home or not busy.  We so appreciate his hard work and I'm grateful he takes pride in his job and enjoys what he does...for the most part:)  He's been working hard this past year to gain as much knowledge as he can in order to take over the propery, which we believe will take place mid-April.  He deserves so much for how great he is and I want him to enjoy every success that comes his way.
It was the absolute perfect way to spend our Saturday lunch...and I even got a nice farmer's tan started to prove it! The nice weather and wondeful neighborhood we live in really makes his long hours away much easier on me as well! The kids are spending more time outside with friends, playing happily and getting good and worn out for bed!  It's been an adjustment for me not having as flexible as he once was, but I know right now the best thing I can do is be supportive and understanding....and avoid calling several times to ask when he's going to be done! But moments like this make me and the kids happy and we realize it will all be worth it in the long run.
