Maddox's 1st Birthday

Last Thursday, our little Maddox had his first birthday. I can hardly believe that he is already 1, it seems like not too long ago that he was still my little baby.  We kept his day pretty low key, after all; he didn't know the difference:)  I took some pictures that day to try to capture some of his different facial expressions...

I love the squished face that he does so often!  He's getting so close to walking on his own, but knows he can get around much faster by crawling.  He has also discovered his love of the toilet...I often will forget to close the door and find him unrolling the roll of toilet paper and putting it in the toilet.  He thinks it's pretty amusing! After Curtis got off work, we headed to grab a bite to eat. Maddox got one of his favorites, cheeseburger and french fries, while the rest of us enjoyed Jimmy Johns.  Here he is savoring a fry, notice he's not sitting in a high chair; he hates sitting in them. I guess he thinks he's too big for them now!

We headed over to Sweet Tooth Fairy to get him his birthday cupcake and the minute he saw it he wanted it.  He was pretty upset that he had to wait till we got home. He was actually crying when we got him out of his car seat and didn't stop until he saw the candle. He had no problem digging right in, and he pretty much ate the entire thing. He just sat there kicking his legs and shoving as much into his mouth as possible!

Next, we let him play with his new toys. He loves that he can push the lawn mower all by himself and I was surprised at the control he had since it wasn't exactly made as a learn-to-walk toy. His roller chime seems to make a better chew handle these days but he likes pushing it around on the ground as he crawls.

We love having this little boy in our family.  I've said it plenty of times, but he really is such a good baby, very mild mannered and sweet as can be.  When I took him for his check up, he was 20.14 lbs (21%), 30.31 inches (68%) and his head was 18.6 (74%).  He's had 3 ear infections in 3 months and the doctor said there is still fluid in his ear although currently its not infected. She told me that if he gets another one in the next couple months, they'll refer us to an ENT to get tubes put in. I'm really crossing my fingers that it doesn't happen, but it looks like a strong possibility!
