Mommyhood Continued...

Another eye-opening day for me here in mommyhood. Taylor was excited as I picked her up from preschool about something she could hardly wait to show me. Boston was screaming for a number of reasons, and had been for about 10 minutes. I ushered her into the car, and sooshed her attempts at showing me something. After a quick life-saving snack from the hotel for Boston, and a trip to Wal-mart for the coveted teething tablets, I focused back on Taylor and awaited her surprise. Here she is in all her glory, pulling out what is thus far, my most prized Mother's Day gift.... A book just for me, and all about me. She quickly turned to her most favorite page in the entire book and showed me what could be the best self-portrait to date.... Can't you see the resemblance? She said, "look, mom, that's you!" The pure joy in her voice could have brought me to tears, but it was the things written inside that truly touched me the most. For journaling purposes, and those of you dying to read my biography, I decided to copy down the things she said about me.

To My Mom By Taylor My mom's name is : Marissa She is {3} years old. (pretty accurate at times, I'm sure!) She has {black} eyes and {brown} hair. Her favorite food is {salad}. She is {sweet}. It makes my mom happy when I {play with her.} It makes my mom angry or sad when I {make messes}. My mom thinks I'm good at {drawing}. (Clearly, the picture speaks for itself!)When I'm with my mom I like to {shop}. When I grow up my mom wants me to be a {mom}. My mom makes me happy when she {plays with me all day}:)

And now for my favorite part.... I want to tell my mom {That I Love Her}.

When I hugged her and told her I loved it, she smiled and said, "I'm so Glad!" This girl is constantly keeping us on our toes, but always keeps us in line. While arguing over some spilt soda at lunch today, Taylor turned to Curtis and I and said, in her authoratative voice, "You guys need to be nice together, remember what I said." Indeed, we do need to be nice together, and the simple wisdom out of my 3 year old's mouth again made me grateful for my day job. Thank you, Taylor, for the love that I felt from a simple, homemade preschool book.

What a sweet little girl!!! You are so blessed to have the blog so early in your children's lives to record all these wonderful memories. I wish I had been able to record everything when the boys were little. I love Taylor's reminder to you and curtis!!!
