A few weeks ago, Curtis took Taylor and Boston north for the annual deer hunt. Since Maddox was still little and I knew it would be cold, I decided we would take a trip to Cali to visit my parents while the others went hunting. When people heard Curtis was taking the kids on the hunt alone, they were shocked and thought he was crazy. What most didn't realize was that 1. Its a family event, 3 of Curtis' brothers and 1 sister went which meant lots of cousins to play with and someone to watch the kids during the early morning hunt; and 2. He was really excited to be able to take them. He grew up doing it and was happy to take the kids and they were more than excited to go. We went last year and when Taylor found out they were going again, it was all she could talk about. The weather wasn't ideal...at least not for playing outside much. One day it looked like this...

And the next morning they woke up to this...!

The kids spent a lot of time playing in the trailers with their cousins and trying to stay warm.

For some reason, none of them look happy in this picture, but I promise a good time was had by all!

This year turned out to be a successful one for Curtis who killed his deer in a complete down pour the night before they came home! Taylor told me all about it too...even the very detailed part about Curtis gutting it! For some reason this was the closest picture they got of the deer!
Oh wait, I lied. Here's a better one...
Ain't he cute!? Taylor even told me that they named him Lil Smoker. Taylor was soo mad when it was time to leave that Curtis said she threw the hugest fit because she wanted to stay! This is the picture he took of her when she got mad at him for trying to take a picture of her!!!
Taylor and Boston are already talking about next year's hunt and telling me that Maddox and I have to go because it was sooo awesome! I'm so glad that Curtis was willing and more than happy to spend some time with these two doing something he loves and that they apparently now love too! Until next year....
