Maddox's Surgery

Maddox had one of his tubes come out a few months back and with in a couple weeks had an ear infection and his ear drum rupture. We took him straight to the ENT who recommended he have a second set of tubes placed as well as his adenoids removed. We were hoping that one set would have been enough but we learned before not to wait and immediately scheduled his surgery.

He hated the gown and knew almost immediately that something was up and he was not happy about it. Even with the drugs to help him mellow out, he was still clinging to Curtis and trying to crawl off the bed.

He had a much harder time after this surgery because he had to go under general anesthesia in order to remove the adenoids.  We were taken back to his recovery room before he got there and heard him screaming down the hall as they were bringing him to us.
He wanted the gown off and the IV out as soon as possible. He was pretty irritable for awhile but the minute the nurse removed everything and told him he could home, he was much better.
Once we got home we thought we could get him to take a nap and sleep off the rest of the anesthesia…boy were we wrong.  Curtis and I both fell asleep on the bed while he was watching videos and I woke up to find he had used a stool to open the garage door and went to his neighbor friend, Beckum's to play!  Silly boy could barely walk straight but nothing was going to keep him inside!
