First Day of School

It's hard to believe that summer came and went so quickly!  Although I love Summer and not having a routine and playing each day as it came, I was ready for the kids to get back to school...they were getting a little stir crazy at home:)

This girl was more than ready to start her first day of 2nd Grade! Holy Smokes, how did she get so old? At the charter school the kids go to, they don't find out teachers until the Friday before school starts.  She was really hoping for a certain teacher and to be in her good friend from Kindergarten's class, but neither of those worked out for her.  She was a trooper though and was still so excited for kids she did know in her class.

She was up and ready to go with plenty of time to spare:) I could tell as it got closer to leave she got a little more nervous, but I knew she would do great! I think it was hard for her because her teacher was brand new to the school so she had no idea what to expect.
We walked in and found her desk and she was excited to see that she got to sit by one of her friends. A quick hug and a good luck from mom and she was all set for her first day:) She came home happy and excited to tell me all about her day! I have no doubt this girl will have a fantastic year! I'm excited to see her grown and learn this year!
Later that same week, Boston started Kindergarten! Holy smokes...I thought it was crazy having one kid in school, but then when your second goes, you know you're getting old!  He was really excited for his first day which I was so happy for.  I have been so nervous about him starting and going all day but everyone assured me he would adjust and do awesome! He got Miss Ravsten who we have heard nothing but good things about which made me happy.
He got up all on his own and came in and asked if it was time for him to shower and go to school! I honestly didn't expect him to be so excited! When I asked who he wanted to take him on his first day, he said his dad without hesitation, but he told me I could pick him up after school.
My big boy at his very first school desk! Curtis said he was a little nervous but sat right down and got to work on his coloring page! I knew I would have been a mess of tears if I'd have taken him but Curtis assured me that he was great and would have an awesome day! And he did.
Taylor was really excited for Boston and has been explaining everything he needs to know about school to him. She's been so good to take him to his class and show him the ropes. I actually learned more about Boston's first day just listening to their conversation on the ride home than from the questions I was asking him...go figure! He had a great first day and has since not had one bad day! We are still adjusting to the homework and after school routine but thankfully the tears and exhaustion have been minimal! These two love to try to coordinate their uniforms which I think is hilarious.  Most days I'm sending them in the exact same colored uniforms from top to bottom and they love it!

I'm so grateful to live in an area with amazing schools and teachers and that my kids have loved and adjusted to their new classes and teachers.  Here's to another great school year...and all the dreaded packed lunches that go with it!
