Pumpkin FHE

Last night for Family Home Evening, we picked pumpkins and painted them. And when I say picked, I  really mean we went to Walmart and dug through mounds to find the biggest and best for our money! We had plans to head to Staheli Farm but the wind was ridiculous and Maddox was coming down with the cold everyone else had already had.

We started out the evening with dinner and a quick lesson from Dad.  He shared the importance of going to church and why we take the Sacrament followed by stories and pictures from his mission.  He was recently called into primary as a team teacher for the CTR 5 class and is really enjoying it!
We headed to Walmart and spent far too long picking and then putting back and then picking again! We finally decided on the perfect ones and headed to pick up some Donuts for our treat.
It got pretty messy, fast but the kids were having a blast! Taylor painted all different types of Halloween items and then decided last minute to paint over all of it so hers would match her brothers'!
Here is the finished product!  They were all so proud and couldn't wait to stick them outside so everyone could see them!  We saved our 2 biggest pumpkins for carving and pumpkin seeds later on as Halloween gets closer!
I have been loving the family time we have been able to have recently. I'm realizing that the stress of everyday life and to do lists often get in the way of just good family fun. It's been nice to leave that behind and focus on enjoying each other's company.
