We finally got the time and funds to do some major work on our backyard. We've had big plans for the almost 2 years we have lived in this house but just never had all the cash needed to make it happen. Curtis put in the sprinkler system about 6 months ago and then it sat until this past week! Curtis spent an entire day leveling it out so we could have curbing put in.

It definitely took both he and I back to the days when we were newly married and he was working construction doing cement...he'd come home covered in dirt and this was no different, except he may have been slightly sore the next few days!

Here's the picture with the curbing in...I was so excited after it was done because it looked more like an actual yard and not a dirt pit!! Then, it was on to the green stuff...and green it was! The kids had a great time helping unroll the sod and were so excited to run on grass to get to the trampoline and not dirt and rocks.

The finished product with all the sod laid... I cannot believe what a transformation it has been. It looks so much bigger with grass and we are loving it. We still have some trees, flowers, shrubs, etc to plant, but that will all come eventually!

We were lucky enough to have my parents in town for conference and we made sure to put them to work. I'm not sure my dad would have called it a vacation but we couldn't have done it without him. He is very meticulous and worked hard clearing and flattening out the flower beds as well as helping Curtis plant a few grass shrubs on our rock wall.

We still have our patio extension to pour hopefully this weekend and then the curbing can be finished and we can focus on planting and getting the last side to our wall. We honestly couldn't have done it without my dad's as well as a couple neighbors that helped. Curtis is treating his yard like a brand new baby and its the first thing he tends to when he gets home from work...but I don't mind since it means having a nice place for my kids and our family to play and enjoy time together!
