November Wrap Up

It's hard to believe that November is already over and that Christmas and the new year are just around the corner. I am hardly prepared for any of it and most days I'm lucky to just make it to the end of the day still standing! We have been trying to stay busy...and warm and have managed to squeeze in some fun along the way! The kids are growing by leaps and bounds these days! Boston continues to be our wild and crazy one who always feels the need to "fight bad guys" which usually means wailing on his big sister! He still in love with Cars and his favorite of the week is Chick Hicks. Taylor's hair is by far the longest its been in her life and she is loving it! When Grandma was here for Thanksgiving, Taylor talked her into curling her hair with a curling iron and then insisted I go buy one so I could curl it everyday! I just filled out an application for kindergarten at a nearby Charter school mostly because they do all day kindergarten. It's crazy for me to think that next year she will begin her long school journey!
Our neighbors put on their annual "Hot Chocolate and Scones" party a couple weeks ago and the kids and adults have a blast playing and eating yummy treats. We are really blessed to live in such a great neighborhood with tons of young families like us. We all keep an eye out for each other's kids and there is always someone to play with.
It's especially nice since there are kids for each of my kids' age. Taylor has several kids within 1 year of her to play with, Boston loves his buddy Daxton and has even threatened Curtis a time or two that if he isn't nice, he will tell Daxton on him! Maddox even has a future friend with Grady who is just 2 weeks older than he is. We had a great Thanksgiving at our house with my parents and my sister and her family who we hadn't seen in over a year. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures, but the food was yummy and the kids played hard. I got to spend my Thanksgiving night working the Black Friday madness at the outlet which meant I spent a lot of time sleeping or at work! Maddox turned 4 months this month and weighed in at a healthy 15 lbs at his check-up. The doc thinks he may have a slight milk allergy as well as silent reflux due to all the stuffiness and mucous he's had so we gradually switched him over to a different formula which seems to be helping. He also had his first taste of rice cereal just yesterday. I'm always so apprehensive starting this stage because it is so inconvenient once they get into all the baby foods...especially when you aren't at home when they want to eat! Since he has a few pooping issues, the doctor also told me that when I did start to mix it with pear juice rather than formula so it wouldn't constipate him.
He had a few sour faces at first, but after he would swallow each bite he got a huge grin on his face! We tried it again today and he seemed to love it even more. He still has yet to roll over or sleep through the night, but that cute face makes it hard not to just love and squeeze him!
Now we just have to get the presents bought, cut down and decorate the tree, mail the Christmas cards, and remember to take pictures along the way....if you don't hear from me for awhile, you'll know why!
