The weekend before Christmas we head North to Utah County for Curtis' annual family Christmas party. Each year the family gets bigger and its fun to be all together under one roof for an evening of fun and good food. Santa always stops by for a visit and sings songs with the kids and then hands out little gifts. Boston opted to sit next to Santa this year rather than on his lap, and Maddox was a little overwhelmed by all the people and a random man with a white beard!

The adults had a white elephant gift exchange that was surprisingly low key this year compared to previous years with people plotting and scheming to get certain gifts. We made out with a new dutch oven and a Holiday mug with some hot chocolate...pretty successful if you ask me! We also got to listen to our
nieces and nephew's band, Dyer Highway, play a few songs. They really are great and I predict they'll be big some day. Saturday was spent watching cousins play soccer, last minute Christmas shopping, playing with cousins, and heading to Salt Lake to see the lights at Temple Square. We have been wanting to go for years with the kids but just never took the time to, so this year we decided to brave the rain and make a quick visit. And by quick, I mean we were there long enough to walk to the visitors center, see the
Christus statue and walk out. Apparently there was a Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert with David
Archuleta and the crowds were ridiculous. You could hardly maneuver a stroller amongst all those people! It was a fun trip, but Curtis and I both swear the lights aren't what they used to be years ago...our kids seemed hardly impressed!

The Visitor's Center was
soo packed that this was the best picture I could get of the kids...and some random people!

Before we left on Sunday, the kids decided that they would enjoy the cold weather but
soaking it up in the hot tub! Boston was a little apprehensive about the jets at first since last time he was in one at the hotel, he almost
drowned! But we quickly showed him he could stand up in it and he warmed up to the idea fast.

It was a fun-filled weekend and we enjoyed seeing lots of family. It's always nice though, to come home and unwind and get back to a normal routine. For us that meant having another child get sick, just in time for Christmas! But worth watching the kids enjoy each minute they had playing with cousins.
