Hotel Living Day 1

My husband thought it would a good idea to document each day of our new life here in the hotel. I think we both know it will be a huge learning experience for us and its a good way to remember the things we learned, as well as those things we fell short of.
So, Day 1:Last night, with the help of friends, Curtis managed to move all of the remaining furniture to our storage which meant our first night in the hotel. Taylor was beyond excited and I had mixed emotions going in. It was a late night by the time we got here with a few things we needed, but the kids went to bed without a struggle. So far, so good. One concern going in was the Curtis was worried he'd get more phone calls from his employees since he was here and "convenient". At 7:45 this morning, the first call came. The front desk clerk called to tell Curtis that a guest had informed her that there was a little girl wondering the halls and knocking on doors. Sherri, the front desk agent, went and retrieved the girl and took her downstairs to the lobby. She called Curt and said "I have a little girl at the front desk who says her name is Taylor, and I think she belongs to you". Are you kidding me? I looked in front of me at the empty sofa sleeper and sure enough, she was missing. When she returned she informed me she was ready for breakfast and looking for dad. Two quick things: She rarely eats breakfast unless she's been up at least a couple hours, and she knows that Dad is not out of bed before her! Our first lesson learned...always make sure the door is completely locked with the night latch on!
The kids are adjusting as well as possible. Boston is clingy and rarely is without his binki and insists on watching Jonah (veggie tales) 24/7. Taylor seems to need a hearing aide as she rarely listens the first time we say something and has a attitude that could kill. I secretly want to sit in a corner and cry, wondering what we've gotten ourselves into. Curtis is our glue, making sure we hold it together, insisting that everything will be fine.
And it will.
The kids are both napping, which is a positive and Curtis is back at the house cleaning and trying to get the rest of the stuff out.
I'm realizing that I'm a mess in stressful situations and that without Curtis, I'd need a padded room. When cleaning the house earlier today, all I could think about was all the crap we still had there and all that was left to clean. Curtis, on the other hand, kept saying how fast we were getting stuff done and how we'd be out in no time.
His glass is half full.....always is, and he's kind enough to pour some into mine.
I'm praying most right now for patience, with my kids and myself.
A friend who was recently in a situation similar to mine, told me to take it one day at a time, or less if I need to.
A day at a time will come, but right now I'm just hoping to make it to dinner.

By the way every time your Dad thinks about Taylors adventure, he starts laughing. Similar to Cam going down the elevator in St. Louis at 2 by himself!!!!!

LOL! That will go down in little Taylor's history as one of her super funny stories, and one day you will find it super funny too! What a cutie!

Hang in there, it will all be worth it!
