Oh Christmas Tree...

We finally got our Christmas decorations up and tree decorated...I know, I know, December's practically over, but we've been a little busy with traveling and Curtis' grand opening at the hotel. We went up to Cedar yesterday to go cut down our own tree. This is only the second time we have ever had a real tree and the first time I actually got to go. Two years ago when we lived in Cedar, Curtis took Taylor and went with some friends to cut one down while I was working. I am completely converted to the real tree and cutting it down yourself...we had so much fun. We borrowed a carry pack so that we wouldn't have to carry Boston around and at first he hated it and tried climbing out. We were trudgin through snow up to our knees at some points and we kept saying..."how bout this one?" and then we'd move on and forget where the other one went!! We finally found it after only about 45 min. We probably would have taken longer but we were running out of daylight! On the way back up the side of the mountain, I had Boston in the pack on my back and was trying to help carry the tree. I honestly felt like one of those biggest loser contestants at their breaking point...I about died! We then headed into Cedar to eat at our favorite Chinese buffet!!! It is definitely a new tradition that we will continue to keep up each year.
Cutting down the "chosen one"

Taylor helping pick out just the right one...poor girl had to wear a coat from last year that was 2 sizes too small! I think it did the trick though:) Can you see the exhaustion in my face?!These two are really starting to have fun and play together...she is the only one that can get him in a full on belly laugh! And finally...all decorated! I think I'm actually starting to get into the christmas spirit! All lit up and ready to goP.S. Today was my birthday...thanks to all those who called or emailed! I truly have so much to be grateful for this year and even though I'm not a big fan of birthdays, I'm glad I got to spend it with my family:) I told Curtis not to get me anything since money is tight and Christmas is right around the corner, but he didn't listen and got me a gift certificate to get a manicure at a local salon and spa!! Thanks Babe:)

How fun! I so wanted to cut down our own tree this year, but just like you guys, we have been so busy! Matt's been working 12 hour days, plus his hour long ride home, and by that time it's dark.

So I think your ahead of the game, I don't even have my tree up yet! I'm finally gonna break down and buy a fakie, and I'm done waiting for all of us to go, I'm going tomorrow! I've had all my decorations up since December 1, the only thing missing is the tree!

I love your tradition and now I am hungry for Chinese food!

Happy Birthday Marissa! I forgot that you guys went and got your own tree a couple years ago. Sounds like fun. We have some friends down in St. George that want us to come down after New Year's and get together. If it all works we ought to meet up with you guys. It feels like forever since we've seen ya!

You look great for just having worked so hard! You're gorgeous! Getting your own tree looks like fun though. The only downside is that you didn't get to come say hi to me while you were here. :0(

Hope you also had a great birthday!
